Based in suburban Philadelphia, Section 9 Studios has been creating stunning and highly interactive websites and marketing campaigns since 2003. Previously exclusive to the healthcare industry, we now are a full service design agency working with a wide range of businesses.

We aim to provide aesthetically pleasing yet highly usable internet experiences. Our portfolio ranges from basic HTML websites to advanced corporate applications to interactive flash and video presentations.

We pride ourselves on the ability to understand the specific needs of our clients, and build custom solutions to help them reach their goals.

At a very young age Geoff developed an interest in art, music, and video games. Over the years not much has changed, as those three interest are still the core components of his life. The sketch book became photoshop... the atari 2600 became an xbox... and the music, well his musical taste hasn't really changed, just expanded a bit.

Geoff was born in upstate New York, but soon relocated to the Philadelphia area and lived in the area through high school before moving to Providence to attend the Rhode Island School of Design. While at RISD, Geoff was having trouble deciding whether to major in Graphic Design or Illustration... so he chose Glass. He knew that drawing and design would always be a part of his life, but the opportunity to learn glassblowing might never come again. After receiving his BFA in 2000, and a brief stint tending bar and doing temp work, Geoff began doing freelance design work for Boucher Communications, and was eventually hired full time.

While at BCI, Geoff met Jason and the two quickly bonded over video games and their dislike for corporate protocol. They started building websites together in their spare time under the name Section 9 Studios. As S9 grew, the workload started to eclipse the work they were doing in their day job, and they realized it was time to take the leap.

Although hard to give Geoff an official title, for the purpose of this bio we will call him the Creative Director. One day he's a web designer or flash animator, another he's a video editor or photographer. He manages to take care of his creative duties while still tending to the needs of his clients as well as the day to day S9 operations.

Jason Jason Krol

Always interested in math and computers as a child, it was no surprise that Jason would wind up with a career in computer programming. Graduating in 1998 with a degree in computer science, Jason started working immediately with a large insurance company. As a part of a small team, Jason was tasked with taking the company's legacy insurance applications and wrapping them with a web based interface that would allow agents to process insurance claims online.

After a few years with the insurance company, Jason then moved on to join Boucher Communications Inc., publisher of industry leading vision care magazines. Here, Jason was instrumental in starting and maintaining the e-media group, which would ultimately become a multi-million dollar revenue generating department within the organization. While working with BCI Jason also partnered with his friend and co-worker Geoff and started taking on small to medium sized freelance projects during their spare time. As they continued to land more and more projects, Jason and Geoff decided to officially launch Section 9 Studios.

While officially the lead programmer, Jason also acts as an account rep. and project manager. On any given day you will find Jason tending to day to day operations, out on a sales call, helping clients put out fires, or winning a quick round of Call of Duty on Xbox Live.

Andrew Andrew Emerick

Born in Pittsburgh, Andrew grew up with a love for black and gold. As he continued to mature, he began to recognize and appreciate all other colors and developed an interest and fascination in logos and graphic design. Continuing to follow that interest in design, Andrew attended the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning - graduating in 2002, having completed internships in Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Chicago along the way. Upon graduating, Andrew returned to Pennsylvania, traveling across the state to Philadelphia where he worked at Citizens Bank in their corporate design department, mainly handling print production for ads.

Eventually Andrew felt a calling to more creative work and soon returned back to western PA, once again travelling across the state, to return to Pittsburgh where he worked at Spreadshirt, creating topical t-shirt designs ranging from political humor to pop culture spoofs. He also started doing a lot of freelance work on the side, notably creating websites for a handful of up and coming national bands. The geographical change wouldn't last long though, as Andrew one last time crossed the state to return to Philadelphia where he'd meet Geoff and Jason and develop the partnership and friendship that are still enduring to this day.

Having met Geoff and Jason while working in the e-Media department of LWW VisionCare, Andrew was instrumental in helping the department continue to grow working on the publication websites and email marketing campaigns. A few months after the initial launch of Section 9, Andrew joined Geoff and Jason and started working immediately with their existing clients. On a daily basis Andrew can be found interacting with clients, handling the creation and deployment of email marketing campaigns, as well as creating highly stylized website designs - that is, if he's not breaking his 100k achievement score on Xbox Live!
